Monterey, CA · Kids Kickboxing · Ages 5–14
Kickboxing that builds focus, not fighters.
Kids kickboxing in Monterey for ages 5 to 14 — an hour of pads, footwork, and cardio that builds coordination, focus, and real confidence, twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday. There’s no sparring and no getting hit: kids are grouped by age, drilling technique on pads and bags, and you watch every round from the parent lobby. The first week is free, and nothing needs to be bought to start.
A look inside the room
Pads up, focus on — this is a kids kickboxing round.
A quick look at what an evening on the pads looks like at AOE. Kickboxing runs Tuesday and Thursday, grouped by age, with no sparring and no getting hit — just footwork, combinations, and a kid who leaves worn out in the good way.

You don’t drop them off and hope for the best here — you sit ten feet away and watch your kid get sharper.
What an hour actually looks like
Same energy your kid has too much of — pointed at something.
Maybe your kid has energy they can’t sit still with. Maybe they’re clumsy in the way most kids are before a sport teaches their hands and feet where to go. Maybe they’ve asked to try kickboxing, and you want to know they’ll learn something real without learning to hit people. That’s exactly the class this is.
Kickboxing at AOE is pads, bags, footwork, and combinations — coordination and cardio drilled as skills, grouped by age, at a pace built for a 5-year-old or a 13-year-old. Nobody spars. Nobody gets hit. Kids move, breathe hard, and learn to put a clean combination together on the pads. The reward is a kid who moves better, listens better, and leaves worn out in the good way.
“I’ve enjoyed watching my little girl build confidence and have watched her do things I didn’t even know she was capable of.” — Maria D., parent at AOE’s kids program
The part parents don’t expect is the focus. Landing a combination clean is a small win a kid earns for themselves — and stack enough of those and you get a child who believes they can learn hard things and stick with them. That’s where the confidence and the discipline come from: show up, warm up, drill, repeat. It’s also where Flow With Instincts stops being a slogan — footwork and combinations get drilled until reacting beats thinking, and a kid who’s practiced the movement a hundred times doesn’t have to hunt for it.
Better together
Striking twice a week, grappling the rest of it.
Kickboxing runs Tuesday and Thursday — which leaves every other day of the week for kids No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the program that runs seven days a week here, weekends included. A kid who does both learns to move on their feet and stay calm on the ground — the two halves of a complete young athlete, taught by the same coaches at the family-run academy in Monterey that their friends already train at.
You can put both on one membership. We don’t lead with price — start with the free week, see if it fits your kid first — but when you’re ready, the bundle pricing is all on one page.
Kids kickboxing times
Two evenings a week — Tuesday and Thursday.
Grouped by age, after school. That’s the whole kickboxing schedule — clean and predictable, so it slots into the week without swallowing it.
| Day | Class | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Tue · Thu | Little Warriors, ages 5–9 | 4:00–5:00 PM |
| Tue · Thu | Warriors, ages 10–14 | 5:00–6:00 PM |
Both classes are online-bookable now, and your child’s first week is free. Not sure which group fits your kid? Call and we’ll place them in the right one.
Who’s actually teaching your kid
The same coaches parents already trust with the little ones.
Kickboxing is led by the AOE kids coaching team — including Coach Gabriel Salazar, who is bilingual, patient, and good at holding a room full of restless kids without letting it turn into chaos. It’s the same team, and the same standard of care, that runs the kids jiu-jitsu classes.
This is a family-run academy: it was founded by ADCC Las Vegas National Champion Chris Moreno, and “how we’d want our own kids coached” is the bar the whole kids program is held to.
What parents ask us first
The questions parents ask before the first class.
What age can my child start kickboxing?
Five. There are two age groups — Little Warriors for ages 5 to 9 and Warriors for ages 10 to 14 — and kids train with their own group, never mixed in with much bigger kids. If your child is right on the line between the two, call and we’ll place them where they’ll do best.
Is it safe? Do the kids spar or hit each other?
No sparring, and no getting hit. This is a coordination, technique, and conditioning class built around pads and bags — kids work their footwork and combinations, not each other. Everyone is grouped by age, the coaches keep the pace right for the room, and you watch the whole class from the parent lobby.
What should my child wear? Do we need gear?
Comfortable athletic clothes are all you need for the free week — there’s nothing to buy to start. Come try it first; if your kid sticks with it, we’ll tell you exactly what they need, and it’s nothing you have to sort out beforehand.
How much does it cost?
Start with the free week first — that’s the honest way to know if it’s right for your kid before any money changes hands. Bundle and membership pricing all live on our pricing page.
Can I stay and watch?
Always. AOE has a dedicated parent lobby built so you can watch every class your child takes — you’re encouraged to, especially the first few weeks. You’ll see exactly who’s coaching your kid and how they’re treated, every session.
Can my child do both kickboxing and jiu-jitsu?
Yes — and a lot of kids here do. Kickboxing is Tuesday and Thursday, and kids No-Gi jiu-jitsu runs the other days, seven days a week including weekends. Both fit on one membership, and the bundle pricing is on the pricing page. Start either one — or both — with the free week.
Your child’s first week
Let them try it before you decide anything.
You don’t have to be sure — that’s what the free week is for. Bring your kid in comfortable clothes on a Tuesday or Thursday, let them drill on the pads for a full week, and watch it from the lobby. Nothing to buy for the free week, no commitment. If it’s not their thing, you walk away owing nothing. If it is, you’ll already know — because you’ll have seen it. Want everything the free week includes, spelled out? It’s all here.
